Specifying a material that has no catalogue
Reclaimed slate cannot be specified by model number. A workable specification names the quarry origin or colour range, the size and exposure, the acceptable thickness band, the grading standard, and the approval mechanism—batch photographs or a physical mock-up. We will help you write all five, and we will tell you where a clause will make the material unbuyable.

Reference details for headlap, hip, ridge, valley and snow guard layout.
Substitution language
If a reclaimed material is genuinely required, say so in the specification and name the approval process. “Or equal” on a salvaged slate roof invites a new synthetic substitution at bid, and it is difficult to reject after the fact.
